Interact Advisors’ Update - March 2018

Hello, Club Advisors:

It was good to see so many of you who participated in our lively Club Advisors’ Roundtable at the recent Interact District Conference at Perry High School in Gilbert!

Loralli’s message: First of all this month, I want to relay Interact District Governor Loralli Johnson’s message to you Advisors: “Thank you so much for supporting the Interact District Conference by personally coming and bringing your club members. Without your support as Advisors, all of the work and time our District Council invested in planning and preparing for this conference would have been wasted. You are greatly appreciated!”

The Video Contest Winners: Congratulations to 1st Place Winner, the Lee Williams High School Interact Club in Kingman, 2nd Place Winner, the Gifted Hands Homeschool Interact Club of Fountain Hills, and 3rd Place Winner, the Bradshaw Mountain High School Interact Club in Prescott Valley. Our sincere apologies for the technical difficulties that prevented us from showing at the Conference all three videos. However, here are

the links you can use to show them to your clubs:

Here is the link for the You Caring website for online donations for our Interact C4A Project, to help send the crutches we have collected and these top Interactors to Kenya:

Club funds you have raised for this project should be made payable to D5495 Interact Service Project Fund and be mailed to Interact District Treasurer John Wintersteen, 4702 E. Lincoln Drive, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. Individuals wanting to make a tax deductible contribution for the project should make their check payable to the Prescott Rotary Club Foundation, with a memo “for Interact C4A Project,” and mail it to the Prescott Rotary Club Foundation, 930 Mohave Drive, Prescott, AZ 86303.

Clubs of Distinction Award Winners: Congratulations to the Fox Creek Junior High Interact Club in Bullhead City for its Interact Club of Distinction Award this year. We especially congratulate the Thunderbolt Middle School Interact Club in Lake Havasu City, and Gifted Hands Homeschool Interact Club in Fountain Hills for both earning the Clubs of Outstanding Distinction Awards for this 2017-18 year!

Thanks Again: We once again thank Interact Past District Governor Mitchell Dodell and his “Brandeis Web Wizards” for creating our new online registration program for this year’s Interact District Conference. It was such a big improvement over the adapted system we used last year.

Interact District Council Applications: We would remind you if you have an exceptional Interactor in your club who will be a freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior next year, that you feel is capable of serving at the Interact District leadership level, please give him/her the Assistant Governor Application that is attached, and encourage that person to apply by April 15 to be considered for a position on next year’s Interact District Council.

Interact C4A Going Forward: Keep collecting those crutches and other mobility devices, and American Furniture Warehouse will continue to store for us the collections of those devices you drop off at either of their SuperStores in Gilbert or Glendale. Your strong endorsement at our Club Advisors’ Rountable of this as Interact’s signature project, and of the Interact Ambassadors to Kenya opportunity, is being forwarded to the Interact District Council for their official consideration and approval at their March 28 online meeting.

Cluster Club Training Days: We got your message you delivered at the Club Advisors’ Roundtable sessions at the District Conference. You feel the CCTDs are helpful and valuable to your clubs, and you want to make certain your clubs are included in one of these CCTDs each year. We also got the message from you at Fall Leadership Conference Advisors’ Roundtable that you want to see these CCTDs scheduled early in the Fall before Thanksgiving, since your club calendars get overly crowded by that time. Please know that your input on all of these programs that are designed to help the clubs is extremely important. You can be assured that your recommendations and requests will be included on our Interact District Council Retreat agenda in July.

Our Interact Website: Remember that our Interact District 5495 Website, www.rotaryazinteract.org is designed to be our centralized source for information and resources for all things Interact. Under the “More” tab, you will find “Resources.” You will find there Interact documents and forms you need, as well as the information on projects like Purple Pinkie and the production of WAPIs. The website will be the place to find applications, to report on your projects and to find the latest news and photos from our exciting Crutches 4 Africa and Ambassadors to Kenya programs — and so much more! We are continually working to improve our website, and to make it more helpful to you and our club leaders.

Any suggestions you may have for how we can improve it, or for features or tools you would like to see on it, will always be welcomed.

As always, please let me know of you have any questions, or if our district Interact leadership team can be of help to you and your club in any way.
