2017-2018
Arizona Interact Ambassadors to Kenya
Five of our top high school age Interactors from Arizona will be selected to send to Kenya (probable
dates: June 29 - July 15, 2018) to assist with the distribution of the 3,500 crutches and other mobility
devices being collected and shipped to that country by the Interact clubs of Arizona. The five Arizona
Interact representatives will be hosted by Interact, Rotaract and Rotary Clubs in Kenya. Applicants to
serve as one of these representatives must be an active member of an Interact club in Arizona,
Needles, CA, or Laughlin, NV, and submit with their application a recommendation from an Advisor to
their Interact club.
From the funds being raised this year by the combined Interact, Rotaract and Rotary clubs and districts
in Arizona, including Needles, CA, and Laughlin, NV, the airfare for these five Interact Ambassadors to
Kenya, along with the travel insurance for the team, will be paid. The selected Interact representatives
and their families must be willing to pay $500 toward the team’s expenses in Kenya, plus the
remainder of the costs of their trip, including passport & visa, required inoculations, luggage charges, travel meals and any spending money (estimated to be approximately $750).
The five Interact Ambassadors will be traveling in the company of experienced Rotarian chaperones
and an advisor, and will be met when they land in Nairobi by David and Candace Talbot, from the
Rotary organization, Crutches 4 Africa. They will travel with them while they are in Kenya. Our first AZ
Interact Ambassadors to Kenya team had a very successful trip and served admirably in June of 2017.
Our 2018 team will benefit greatly from their experience.
